Blackberry to iPhone (part 2)
Recently I changed over from my beloved Blackberry Curve 8900 over to an iPhone 4 (http://www.joelhughes.com/blackberry-to-iphone4-before) - now I'd like to talk about how that panned put and whether my fears were justified.
1) keyboard
I knew the keyboard would take some getting used to but I am know finding my feet. My rugged choice of leather case, whilst lovely, does slightly get in the way whilst typing in landscape mode though.
2) Reliability
No problems so far - the occasional app gets it's knickers in a twist but a) this is the apps fault and b) this happens a lot less than I expected. Perhaps the app store is pretty rigorous about weeding out crashy apps.
3) Ruggedness
No complaints so far BUT, as already mentioned, I do have a rugged leather case AND screen protector - this phone had to last me a while! And I carry my phone like a new born baby ;)
Overall I'm amazed by this phone, it's absolutely superb. The camera apps such as Instagram, Hipstamatic and Camera+ are a boon for a avid snapper like me (amazingly there is nothing like this on the Blackberry).
The app which really blows me away though is 'Star Walk' - you hold it above your head and it reveals a digital window showing what stars and constellations are above you - it's a real jaw dropper to use.
The only major problem i've had is choosing which Twitter apps to use - as a power Twitter user I've got a low threshold when an app doesn't support the features I need. The jury is still out (and, believe me, I've tried a load already!) but the official Twitter app and Tweetings are my faces (I will blog on this later).
And the fact that I'm posting this from my iPhone shows I'm pretty much up to speed again!
No regrets :)
Joel
Ps apologies for mentioning apps but not putting links in; lazy!
